How is the process of doing an online valuation?

The valuation and/or report issuance process involves the following steps:

  1. Selection and purchase: obtain the chosen type of product by payment via our online shop, choosing from the multitude of options we offer: basic valuation, express basic valuation, valuation, express valuation, report and/or express report. As well as, depending on the required languages, mono or multilingual versions.

  2. Receipt of information: once we receive the request, an e-mail will be sent to your e-mail inbox including an order summary with web links to the form/s, through which all required information, such as dimensions, materials, etc., including images, should be provided to us.

  3. Preliminary analysis: an object appraiser will review the provided information, comparing and complementing it with reliable sources, paying particular attention to visible details in the submitted images by the customer, in order to obtain a correct dating and identification.

  4. Thorough research: our team of expert appraisers will conduct extensive research, considering similar examples from auction houses, antique dealers, and others.

  5. Basic valuation document: a simplified valuation is provided, which includes all or part of the following aspects: title/denomination, authorship/production centre, manufacture location, date, materials, dimensions, images. As a conclusion, up to two-three of the following estimates are provided: 1) the price range the item could reach at auction in the country where it is located, 2) the price range the item could reach at international auction, and 3) a suggested current price. The length of this document is usually 1-2 pages.

  6. Valuation document: a valuation is delivered, which includes all or part of the following aspects: category, type, inventory identification, title/denomination, authorship/production centre, manufacture location, date, materials, dimensions, description, heraldry, signatures/marks/stamps, inscriptions, images. As a conclusion, up to two-three of the following estimates are provided: 1) the price range the item could reach at auction in the country where it is located, 2) the price range the item could reach at international auction, and 3) a suggested current price. The length of this document is usually 2-3 pages, depending on the item and the collected information.

  7. Report document: a study is submitted, which includes all or part of the following aspects: category, type, inventory identification, title/denomination, authorship/production centre, manufacture location, date, provenance, exhibitions, materials, dimensions, description, conservation status, heraldry, signatures/marks/stamps, inscriptions, images and reasoned valuation. As a conclusion, up to two-three reasoned estimates are provided, of the following, with reference pieces (similar to the one analysed): 1) the price range the item could reach at auction in the country where it is located, 2) the price range the item could reach at international auction, and 3) a suggested price. The length of this document is usually more than 7 pages, depending on the item and the collected information.
